RE: Do any of you have sway control for your pup?

I only have a WDH on my E4, but with the length and dual axel, I have not had any problems with sway. I pulled it from VA to CA in May and never an issue. On a smaller single axel trailer, I could definately see the benefits.

RE: Portable AC

I haven't tried it, but I am as curious as you. For the once a year that I may actually use the AC, its a much cheaper alternative. We were just going to pipe the hot air hose out the fabric of our slide.

RE: Camp Setup with Small Children

I took my nephews (8 and 10) camping with my brother there. Their version of helping was to sit in my brother's car and watch DVD's with the windows up so I did hear it. They were so not interested in camping, any time I turned my head they were back in the car watching another movie. Its all how you raise your kids, have them help, teach them to do things, and discourage the watching of movies in a beautiful campground.

RE: New to pop up camping-2008 Starcraft 36RT

I have a Fleetwood E4 and I would agree with Mike, if you are going to load the front end, try to put as much of your gear inside aft of the axels. My F-150 sagged even with the WDH tighter then a banjo string. The new Ram 3500 SRW is tough enough not to sag.
What do you plan to use as a TV?

RE: Add WD hitch or not.

I towed an E2 and new tow an E4 with a reese 1200lb round bar WDH, I have never had and sway and it works even with my harley on the deck of the E4. I highly recommend it.

RE: Jayco Baja Speakers

When I am playing beer pong under the awning, some Jimmy Buffett or Bob Marley from the external speakers is exactly what the situation calls for.
I have not replaced the speakers on my E4, but my experience with marine external speakers is they do go bad pretty quickly. I am hoping for two years out of these before I need to replace.

RE: I can't find what I need

I know this isn't exactly what you are looking for, but its the first thing I found. I will keep looking. I grew up working in boatyards, and have installed those recessed extinguisher holders a couple of times.

RE: Privacy in Tent Trailer

Shadows can be a problem, keep the light low (candles or dim LEDs). Just keep a mind on that before adult activities, or your friends in the neighboring campground will completely embarass you in the morning.

RE: Looking for a socket genie...

Be careful with the cordless, it requires a lot of torque to raise the roof. On my E2, my Dewalt 7.8 amp drill did it, but there was a minute amount of acrid smell in the air. When we got the E4, the 7.8 didn't raise it without belching acrid smoke. We had to upgrade to a 9.0 amp, low speed 1/2inch craftsman drill. Check craigslist, I bet you could find a hoss drill to do it properly.

RE: Fleetwood - figures.

Stop sweating the little things, get out there and use it more. Tow it through a deep stream on some National Forest and you will forget all the problems. I have had two Evolutions, the E2 and now the E4. The furnace wouldn't work on the E2, found that out on a 24 degree weekend boondocking. The E4 so far hasn't had a problem except its missing the little cover where the shore power cable comes out. Not even worth me driving to the dealer an hour away. Go out, use it hard, find everything wrong and then take it in for service.

RE: Tips / tricks for bringing more water while boondocking?

If you are looking to carry large amounts of water, Tractor Supply Company carries large plastic tanks that can be mounted in a pickup bed that can carry up to 100 gallons extra.

RE: Fleetwood is really gone

I have moved on from Beer to a fine bourbon. So its a mellow rage now.
I would also like to say that the April Fools Joke, about the FLeetwood E5 was not cool
I have been thinking about a 5th wheel PUP for months now. It would have a cargo deck, multiple slides, it would be a hoss.
I am sorry that the rant continues...

Fleetwood is really gone

Just going around the internet tonight, I went to Fleetwood RV, and there is no longer a link to the Folding Campers.
OK, so I may be a bit slow, but it was really depressed when it was on longer there.
I don't care what anyone says or who owns the company, I own a 2008 FLEETWOOD E4 and I am proud of it.
I admit I have had about 6 beers tonight and this is what i would consider a buzzed rage.\

RE: Carrier for 400 lb ATV on pup roof

Looks like you need to go get an E4. It will hold all three ATVs, the ramps are the fences, not two seperate pieces. My E4 tows far better than my E2 (similar to yours).

RE: Tow with water or not.

I won't pull with my 35 gallon tank full, just too much unneccessary weight. Most gas stations have hose hook-ups right there by the pumps. I will usually let the water flow for a couple of seconds first, then hook up my hose (and filter) and fill my tank just before I arrive at a dry campground. That works well IMHO.

RE: Our Squeaky Trailer

ScottG's comment is all too true (and funny), going on three years of marriage, and the parked trailer squeaking has deminished greatly.
Its like the penny joke- the number of pennies put into a jar the year before marriage will never equal the number of pennies taken from the jar after marriage.

RE: Mod - More room by removing extra mattress

We did the same as Ruide; removed the one mattress, put down some carpet, and store the 3" memory foam topper on that bed end. Once the bed is made up, its great storage for the weekend. In fact my wife lived in our E4 for the last three weeks with that configuration. She found the extra space extremely useful. We are probably going to do the carpet on both ends because the mattresses slide so much better on the carpet vice that rough board.

RE: Why A High Wall over a Hybrid.

My wife needed the same convincing about the bathroom. That is one of the reasons we upgraded from the E2 to the E4. We were both comfortable using the bathroom and showering in there. Any of the fleetwood models with a bathroom are really nice. We looked at the Avalon and Niagra, but our adventure attitude landed us on the E4. She will have no problems with it.
